Requirements:

A high school diploma and seven (7) years of progressively responsible field experience in geodetic surveying or related area; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. At least five (5)years of experience must be in bridge inspection plus the successful completion of a Federal Highway Administration approved comprehensive bridge inspection training course.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.

Job Description:

Acts as District Two Bridge Inspection Team Leader. Plans the bridge inspection schedules and assigns various duties to the team members. Coordinates and supervises all district bridge inspection activities. Uses information furnished to determine which bridges requires replacement or rehabilitation. Performs in-depth bridge inspections and prepares technical inspection reports, structure inventory, and appraisal sheets for Bridge Structures in 8 counties. Determines the preliminary structural condition and the safe load limit until a more comprehensive structural analysis can be performed by the Central Office staff. Inspects sign bridges noting necessary items in need of repair or maintenance. Assists in editing field data
and assembling necessary reports from 8 counties to distribute to Columbia Central Office,Resident Maintenance Engineer, and proper authorities within local county government. Schedules, organizes, and implements the measurements of streambed profiles through the use of sounding and sonar equipment. This provides information pertaining to scour or undermining around bridge bents. Monitors Engineering Consultant during field work and coordinates information and scheduling between the Consultant, the Central Office and the District Office. Prepares HMMS, bridge deficiency reports, time sheets, and mileage reports.
