West Fraser Timber Co Ltd. is an integrated forest products company producing lumber, wood chips, fiberboard, plywood, pulp, and newsprint. Today, the company carries on its operations through subsidiary companies and joint ventures owned directly or indirectly by the company?s principal operating subsidiary West Fraser Mills. West Fraser, Inc. is the company?s wholly-owned subsidiary in the United States. The business has 15 lumber producing locations throughout the U.S. South.
We are seeking a Controls/PLC/Drives Technical Support Position who will report to the Atlantic Region Manager. The home mill is in Armour, NC. This individual will travel 50-75% of the time to Seaboard, NC, Armour, NC, Newberry, SC, and Augusta, GA. Special cases may require time at other U.S. mills.
Job Requirements/Skill Sets:
? Demonstrated ability to train/impart knowledge to mill personnel. Bring the skill level at the mill up to match the systems now in place or coming at WF mills.
? Demonstrated ability to effectively engage and work with mill level personnel, develop understanding of mill needs and deliver the required help in an effect manner.
? Excellent trouble shooting skills ? Drives, PLC issues, control issues, electrical. Ability to troubleshoot from afar and talk mill folks effectively through issues.
? Willingness to respond to emergency situations at a given mill, bring a ?whatever it takes? mindset to the position.
? Ability to recognize opportunities for improvement and help local mill management see the same. Aid mill in implementing these improvements.
? Assist as required in project planning, startups, helping the mill to meet/exceed ramp expectations. Ability to work with vendors and help expeditiously move the mill beyond the vendors expertise.
