Requirements:

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED equivalent with nine to tweleve months of fire servces or fire training experience; or any equivalent combination or training and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Must have successfully completed required courses and certification; may be required to possess additional certification(s) as deemed necessary by the City. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license. Must possess CPR and first aid certificatins.

Job Description:

Under regular supervision the firefighter performs firefighting, hazardous materials release response, and technical rescues in order to protect and safeguard lives and property of Newberry citizens. Work involves handling the responsibility for ensuring the readiness and condition of all department resources to include emergency response vehicles, hand tools and equipment, and buildings and grounds. All firefighters report to the Fire Captain.
