Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of methods and techniques for securing buildings and grounds. Good Communication skills. Ability to check individuals in and out of Resident Hall through documentation. Ability to use basic applications on desk computer and email.
Resident Hall Monitors are on duty at the resident resident halls every day of the week during hours not otherwise covered while students are living in these areas. These times include weekends, some holidays and/or school breaks. Resident Hall Monitors are expected to have reliable transportation. arrive at their assigned location on time. and have a reliable mobile phone available for communication purposes.
The primary responsibility of this position is to monitor individuals entering the buildings and to ensure they are authorized to do so, to include checking ID's and recording quests. Additional responsibilities include periodically checking the lobby area for hazardous conditions and checking and locking outside doors.
Under no circumstances are non-law enforcement personnel to attempt to make arrests or to take other law enforcement actions in connection with any duty in the residence halls. Situations requiring police action will be referred to the police officers on duty or to other commissioned law enforcement officers.
Resident Hall Monitors are under the direct supervision of the Housing and Resident Life Department.
