A valid Class "B" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "B" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "B" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "B" Commercial Driver's License are available.
Performs duties using manual labor, in such maintenance task as clearing of right-of-ways cleaning drainage ditches, repairing shoulders, patching potholes, making base repairs, repairing bridges, paving driveways and laying sideline/cross line pipe. Flags traffic during road repairs to control flow of traffic to protect workers, general public and equipment. Assists in the installation of driveways; using hand tools, hand tamp, placing aggregates, removing mailboxes and reinstalling and helping place large sections pipe. Trains to operate a 5 yard standard dump truck, and flatbed trucks for hauling materials such as asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe, construction material and debris. Operates chain saw in cutting trees on right-of-way. Conducts and documents pre-operation vehicle/equipment inspection. Operates and maintains electric/gas powered tools in various phases of roadway maintenance. Trains in the operation of heavier equipment such as tandem dump trucks, front-end loaders, self-propelled belt loaders, steel and pneumatic rollers, motor graders, specialized mowers and backhoes. Performs other related job duties as requested or assigned by supervisor.
