The successful candidate will possess a High School diploma or GED, good mechanical aptitude including experience with common hand and power tools, demonstrated knowledge of safety procedures, the ability to use self contained breathing apparatus equipment, effective communication skills, and a willingness to work with others in a team environment. A valid Commercial Driver?s License or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment is also required. Basic computer skills are preferred. The candidate must have basic pipe welding experience and also successfully demonstrate specified welding competencies within six months and is subject to semi-annual testing certification to the current API 1104 standard.

Job Description:

The Welder position performs stick welding on steel natural gas pipelines, including downhill welds using 6010 and 7010 welding rods and uphill welds using 7018 welding rods and proficiency in tapping and stoppling of high pressure pipelines. Duties also include, but not limited to, all aspects of installation and repair of steel natural gas pipelines and valve stations, performing natural gas leak investigation, functions of integrity management, cathodic protection installation and repair, locating underground facilities and the operation of overhead cranes and boom trucks. This position is also responsible for operation of commercial vehicles to include loading, unloading, and transporting of equipment and materials. Documentation and record keeping is an integral part of this position. Most duties are performed while working outside in varying weather conditions, and may require heavy lifting up to 75 lbs. This position also requires the individual to be available (on call) as needed for emergency response after normal business hours.
