Job Description:

Overview of Maintenance Co-Op Program:

The maintenance co-op position will be a collaborative agreement between International Paper and the individual candidate. The goal of the program is to develop a maintenance employee by offering part time hours to be completed while the individual is enrolled in the Industrial Technology or Engineering Technology program at Piedmont Technical College. After completion of the program an expectation is that the individual will successfully complete the required maintenance testing, any other pre-employment testing required by International Paper, and come on board full time as a maintenance mechanic. This position is not guaranteed but is the goal of the Maintenance Co-op program.

The maintenance co-op will report directly to the maintenance supervisor. The responsibilities will include but not limited to:

- following all safety rules and practices required by the plant
- while working with senior mechanics, will perform minor repairs as directed
- perform setup and tear down of equipment and may assist with major repairs and/or construction required to plant building and stationary equipment, fabrication of parts, and installation of new plant equipment
- participates in and successfully completes training directed at increasing job-related trade skills as mandated by management/supervisor
- assists and ensures all areas are returned to a clean, neat, orderly, and safe condition according to policy and procedures
- while working with senior maintenance mechanics safely troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic & hydraulic issues. Order parts as needed and safely complete the repairs in a professional manner
- maintaining teamwork with other employees
