A 10th grade education and six (6) months of work experience that is directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
(Note): This position requires a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License. However, applicants without a Class A Commercial Driver’s License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class A Commercial Driver’s License are
available.Class A Commercial Driver’s License must be attained within six (6 months) of placement in the position.
Assists mechanics by laying out tools, equipment, and materials necessary for performing vehicle preventive maintenance schedules for Richland Maintenance. Maintains safe and clean work area and ensure all work is done within OSHA and DHEC compliance. Cleans tools, sweep floors, and clean-up oil spots in an orderly manner. Performs vehicle clean-up after shop repairs on SCDOT equipment, Assists with picking up parts. Answers service calls to disabled SCDOT equipment, makes minor roadside repairs. Performs other related duties as required by the supervisor to include unloading supply trucks. Works during hazardous, inclement weather and
other emergencies as directed by supervisor.
