A 10th grade education and two (2) years of work experience that is directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class A Commercial Driver?s License. NOTE: This position requires a valid Class A Commercial Driver?s License. However, applicants without a Class A Commercial Driver?s License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class A Commercial Driver?s License are available. Class A Commercial Driver?s License must be attained within six (6) months of placement in the
position.
Performs preventive maintenance inspection on state equipment, following the prescribed fluid levels, lubrication, fueling and tire servicing policies, rules and regulations. Reports major preventive servicing problems to Shop Supervisor. Trains in proper welding techniques in order to assist skilled mechanics in order to repair and upgrade equipment by fabricating and welding parts. Installs and repairs inclement weather equipment such as snow plow and sand/salt spreaders. Performs repairs on state equipment and makes daily entries on time sheet.Maintains and repairs electrical systems. Makes necessary repairs on hydraulic hoses, pumps
and motors. Assists mechanics in making more complex repairs on equipment. Assists with emergency operations during inclement weather. Responds to service calls in the field and makes necessary repairs. Enters data into logs for fuel consumption and engine hours.Performs job in compliance with safety and environmental policies and procedures using available personal protection equipment as required. Performs other related duties as required.
