QUALIFICATIONS
? High school diploma or the equivalent
? Two-year technical degree in mechanical technology or related discipline
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
? Five to seven years of industrial maintenance experience
? Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs
? Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
? Experience with basic function and operation of gear boxes, ball and roller bearings, mechanical seals, mechanical pumps, mechanical couplings, drive shafts, and various types of drive belts.
? Experience with drilling and tapping various metals.
TECHNICAL AND FUNCIONAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
COMPETENCIES
? Self-motivated and capable of working with little or no supervision
? Effective oral and written skills
? Ability to be part of a multifunctional/multi-skilled maintenance organization with a willingness to work as required by plant production priorities
MISSION
The Mechanical Technician is responsible for maintaining all of the mechanical equipment and for performing routine maintenance as required. Assists the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor in creating a strategic direction for maintaining the facility's mechanical equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
? Maintain a safe work record and a safe environment in accordance with company policies and OSHA regulations. Comply with all requirements regarding PPE, safety training, and safe work habits.
? Maintain company quality standards and requirements.
? Follow all work instructions and comply with all company policies.
? Inspect, test, and repair mechanical equipment and systems.
? Utilize precision measuring tools to detect abnormalities.
? Diagnose, troubleshot and report potential or existing problems with mill mechanical equipment.
? Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks on all mechanical equipment.
? Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to address work orders, perform required work, confirm labor hours and enter equipent and parts usage history.
? Assist in other equipment repairs and installations as needed. Troubleshoot mechanical failures and correct those failures
Work Environment
Manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, noise, and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to a variety of outside weather conditions.
Physical Demands
This position is very active and requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. The mill will operate 24/7/365. Must be able to work rotating shifts and overtime, including weekends and holidays, as the work dictates.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.
