Minimum
An associate degree in electronics and related experience.

Additional
Knowledge of operating principles of microwave systems and knowledge in concepts, characteristics, capabilities and theoretical design of microwave radio equipment; as well as, sophisticated electronic equipment. Have the ability to analyze and interpret schematic diagrams, electronic specifications and manufacturer's equipment manuals. Knowledge of the practices, methods, equipment, tools and materials used in microwave systems testing, repair and maintenance work. Has knowledge of the causes of trouble common to microwave systems, and the ability to trace and locate such trouble. Has knowledge of the rules and regulations of the FCC, governing the operation and maintenance of microwave systems. Has skill in the use of various tools and equipment, used in testing microwave systems equipment. Candidate is qualified to use spectrum analyzers, power meters and frequency counters during alignment/testing/repair of microwave radio equipment. Candidate is familiar with
backup battery/rectifier systems and sub-systems. Has a strong understanding of basic electronics. Have excellent mechanical aptitude, coordination and dexterity. Ability to safely, use various equipment for maintaining grounds/guy lanes. Manage, maintain and troubleshoot network equipment and technology, acting as tier 1 support for the network segments traversing microwave physical layer. Technicians will obtain training and knowledge level to provide support to these networks in coordination with SCETV IT and Transmission teams as appropriate. Has the ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships with other employees, contractors, and the general public. This position requires on-call status to respond to after hours  emergencies or scheduled outages for maintenance.  This position is deemed essential, in all scenarios.

Regular quarterly meeting with department heads and other supervisors, other informal meetings and discussions as needed. Formal or informal training sessions can be taken as needed or
available.

Position requires travel and may be required to work on nights, weekends and/or holidays.

Job Description:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job Purpose
Under general supervision performs activities related to the operation of the ETV Microwave transmission system and associated multiplexing equipment. Performs installation, alignment testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of Microwave transmission systems and components. Associated multiplexing equipment and related electronic sensing devices.

Job Duties
Performs routine and emergency maintenance on digital microwave radio systems, components and related electronic sensing devices. Performs system-level troubleshooting to determine point of failure of microwave circuits. Performs periodic and frequency measurements on microwave radios and document results. Identifies, analyzes and corrects microwave system problems to maintain peak system operating performance.

Help ensure all SCETV owned microwaves sites/guyed towers with microwave radio antennas have adequate guy wire clearance from trees and vegetation.

Performs routine and emergency maintenance on wave guide pressurization systems for microwave radios.

Maintains buildings and grounds. Performs general inspection of microwave towers, guy lines, and guy anchors.

Performs routine and emergency maintenance on microwave power systems, which include rectifier/battery plant, standby generator and various UPS solutions.

Manage, maintain and troubleshoot network equipment and technology, acting as tier 1 support for the network segments traversing microwave physical layer. Technicians will obtain training and knowledge level to provide support to these networks in coordination with SCETV IT and Transmission teams as appropriate.

Maintains/repairs SCETV tower lighting controllers in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Advisory circular AC 70/7060-1K Change 2, Obstruction marking and lighting.

Performs other related tasks, as assigned by the supervisor.
