EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum Education Requirements: High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 Years of experience in maintenance is preferred.
  • Education: Associates degree, military training, and/or related experience a plus.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical systems with some background in rotating equipment, pumps, blowers, gearboxes and conveying equipment.
  • Must be responsible, self-motivated, and able to function effectively in demanding situations with little or no supervision.
  • Knowledge of plant policies, procedures and safety and environmental standards.
  • Ability to effectively lead and direct work groups.
  • Provide technical and general coaching to peers.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use flow charts and schedules; maintain a system of records.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment using an analytical, step-by-step process, standard maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
  • Effective team building skills.
  • Possess a high degree of electrical/instrument job technical skills in electronic, pneumatics, and computerized controls. Also, a good level of process knowledge is required.
  • Diagnose equipment problems, circuit continuity and to formulate and implement specific tests.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer PC skills and SAP Experience (Work Order and Parts Management).
  • Other: Provox, PLCs, AC&DC Drives, troubleshooting electrical systems, circuitry, and operations issues.
  • Experience with polymerization process.
  • Experience with rotating equipment, mechanical seals and additive pumps.
  • Understand the use and application of complex diagnostic and test equipment. Examples include: oscilloscope, small computers, pneumatic calibration sets and industrial analyzers.
  • Perform electrical/instrument preventive maintenance and make repairs to complex equipment.
  • Knowledge of plant Engineering procedures, maintenance redesign, and SAP.

 

BASIC ASSESSMENT: SC WorkKeys Math, Reading and Locating with a score of 4 or higher.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must work where the noise level requires hearing protection.
  • May be exposed to various hazards such as corrosive chemicals (acetic acid for autoclave acid boil), steam, molten polymer, equipment related dangers, etc.
  • Routine safety equipment: long sleeves, safety shoes, hard hat, ear plugs/muffs, safety glasses
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to push/pull buggies or carts up to 200 lbs.
  • Ability to carry 25 lbs. or less.
  • Capable of climbing flights of stairs or ladders.

Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Operations Support Technician is responsible for electrical system troubleshooting, process troubleshooting, assisting the area engineer with data collection and interpretation, organizing and conducting tests, assisting maintenance as needed for troubleshooting and maintenance work and repair, and assist with development of new products, electrical components, and coordination of other resources as necessary for repairs. This person could also be called whenever additional maintenance support is needed for a given job. The resolution of manufacturing problems in the pursuit of optimizing the product quality and unit on stream-time will be a key focus area.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with coordination of the daily work effort via procurement of materials, equipment, and resources for all emergency work that breaks the routine schedule.
  • Ensure all work execution meets Ascend standards.
  • Assist area Planner and Scheduler with reactive work, job scopes, and critical paths.
  • Take a leadership role within the group.
  • Coach/train the work group to meet area expectations.
  • Insure that prints and equipment specifications are updated.
  • Maintain area equipment files.
  • Use SAP, Outlook, prints, sketches, vendor information, and equipment data to ensure that work is accomplished in a timely and productive manner.
  • Lead/participate in area improvements through the A2E process.
  • Comply with all safety/health related policies and procedures, participate in company sponsored safety programs and activities, and report to management those conditions or actions by employees or others that might create a hazard to themselves or others in the plant. Reports any work-related injury or illness, no matter how minor, to their supervisor or lead.
  • Maintain housekeeping on assigned machines and in areas.
  • Assist in machine start-ups and shutdowns.
  • Must be able to work call-ins, unscheduled hours, and overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts.
