Department Marketing Statement

South Carolina Electric and Gas' Fairfield Pumped Storage Station in Jenkinsville, SC has an opening for a Plant Mechanic. This position will be based at Fairfield Pump Storage and provide maintenance support for the Northern Hydro’s and Peaking plants.

Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining the mechanical aspects of equipment and systems within the pumped storage generating station, run of the river hydro’s, and simple cycle combustion turbines.

The position also requires support of other Northern Hydro’s and Peaking plants on an as needed basis.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for this position include a High School Diploma or GED from an accredited High School recognized from the Department of Education and a minimum of four (4) years of work experience in maintenance, operations or construction and renovation of power generating facilities.

Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings.

Basic computer skills.

A valid driver's license is also required.

Candidates who possess one or more of the following preferred skills/experiences will be considered first:

Certified welder, machining, hydraulics, Boom Truck/Mobile Crane operator certification, and rigging certification.

A valid CDL or the ability to obtain and maintain a CDL is also a plus.

Other Information

This position requires candidates to be in good physical condition as the working conditions include working outside during inclement weather, heavy lifting, standing for prolonged periods of time, climbing tall structures or ladders, and confined space entry.

Travel will be required within the SCE&G service territory to support the Northern Hydro’s and Peaking plants.

Candidates must be able to qualify to wear a respirator and maintain annual respirator requalification.

This position also requires candidates to be able to work overtime and call-outs when needed.
