Requirements:

High school diploma/GED
Associates or Bachelor?s degree in Criminal Justice or a related field is preferred but not required
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must possess or be able to obtain certification from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy
Valid SC driver?s license
Required to work 12-hour rotating shifts
Posses a valid SC driver?s license
Firearms certification
Basic law enforcement SCCJA certification
Minimum age requirement is 21
Knowledge of state and federal laws
Knowledge of criminal law
Knowledge of defensive tactics
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to work with the public and deal effectively with the public
Must be able to handle stress in emergency situations
uccessfully pass drug screening, psychological exam and medical exam.

Job Description:

Patrols designated areas to observe and check on homes, businesses and industry. Responds to calls for service relayed by the dispatcher and conducts preliminary investigation when needed. Monitors traffic controls and enforces speed limit. Writes tickets, testifies in court. Investigates traffic accidents, submits reports and does follow-up. Testifies in court as required. Prepares detailed written incident and investigative reports. Apprehends and arrests suspects. Accompanies and maintains custody of individuals being taken to jail, court or detention centers. Conducts searches and arrests when probable cause has been established in keeping with the laws of arrest, search and seizure. Serves warrants and other court processes. Assists at special events as needed. Maintains assigned equipment and vehicle in proper working order. Performs related duties as required.
