A 10th grade education; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.
Trains to operate standard dump truck, and flatbed trucks for hauling materials including asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe, construction materials and debris. Trains to operate the patching machine that is used for paving, patching repairs to base and pavement on roads, driveways, crossovers, turn lanes, parking areas and bridge approaches. Flags traffic using flag and/or sign board to direct traffic safely around workers and equipment during roadway maintenance repairs. Repairs potholes and base surface failures of roadway using hand tools, including shovel, pick, rake, and hand tamp. Trains in the operation of heavier equipment including tandem dump trucks, front-end loaders, motorgraders, and backhoes. Operates chain saw in cutting trees on right-of-way. Trains to operate standard dump truck with snow plow attachment and sand spreader to remove snow and ice from highways and bridges. Performs other related job duties as requested or assigned by supervisor. Assists in the installation of driveways; using hand tools and hand tamp, placing aggregates, removing mailboxes and reinstalling and helping to place large sections of pipe.
