Requirements:

10th grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of related trades
experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with state
human resources regulations.
class a commercial driver's license. (note): this position requires a class a
commercial driver's license. However, applicants without a class a commercial
driver's license will be considered if no qualified applicants with a class a
Commercial driver's license are available. However, applicants are required to
obtain a class a commercial driver's license within six (6) months of
employment.
May be required to work overtime, nights, weekends or holidays, and during
Inclement weather or other emergencies.
Experience with asphalt equipment, paver, rollers, mill, etc.

Job Description:

Under general supervision, operates various equipment needed to complete full depth paving operations including, but not limited to backhoe, motorgrader, paver and roller. Operates CDL Class A combination vehicle to transport equipment and materials. Performs daily inspection and maintenance on backhoe, broom tractor, paver and roller, and other supporting equipment to complete required inspection checklist for CDL equipment. Trains to operate main controls and ground controls for the district milling machine. Performs traffic control flagging operations to control flow of traffic to protect workers, general public and equipment. Assist other district/county crews as needed. Assists supporting counties with asphalt placement, traffic control, and equipment coordination as needed. Performs other duties as directed by District Roadway Engineer.
