Requirements:

A 10th grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.

Job Description:

Operates motorized equipment including motorgrader mounted bush-hog, mo-trim in clearing grass and small trees from highway's right-of-way. Operates slope mower with buzz bar attachment in limbing operations. This is done to improve sight distance and for appearance. Acts as crew leader in the absence of supervisor. Performs emergency repairs and running adjustments into the HMMS program. Operates a standard and five cubic yard dump truck to haul signs, equipment and materials to and from the job sites. Drives 8 yard dump truck to pull trailers. Operates front-end loader, standard backhoe and necessary equipment in removing materials from roadway when cleaning storm debris. Operates chain saws in clearing right-ofway
by hand. Sets up work zone for mowing operations. Flags traffic using sign board and/or flag to direct traffic safely around and by workers and equipment. Performs miscellaneous related duties as required. Assists the supervisor by ensuring pre-trip inspections are performed correctly.
