A 10th grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.
Operates a tractor mounted rotary ditching machine and backhoe to clean out roadside drainage ditches. Operates a motor grader in ditching, shoulder operations, driveway installation or snow and ice removal. Operates a tractor trailer to haul equipment and materials as requested by the supervisor. Flags traffic during road repairs to control flow of traffic to protect workers, general public and equipment. Performs duties using manual labor in maintenance tasks such as cleaning drainage ditches, patching pot holes, making base repairs, paving driveways and laying sideline/cross line pipe. Operates standard dump truck with snow plow and sand spreader to remove snow and ice from highways and bridges. Operates a chainsaw in the removal of trees from right of way. Performs other related duties as required by the supervisor.
