A 10th grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.
Serves as crew leader performing various duties in a county such as cleaning ditches, cutting trees, and installing driveways; performing manual skilled labor. Sets up traffic control according to MUTCD Standards to warn motorists of road work ahead. Operates combination front-end loader and backhoe to clean out drainage ditches and to install sideline and cross line pipe. Operates tandem dump truck in hauling maintenance and construction materials such as concrete pipes, asphalt, dirt, and coquina. Instructs crew members daily in a safety practices, such as flagging operations, wearing of safety equipment, vehicle safety, or when working with hazardous materials and waste. Produces daily records of work performed and materials used, records such as HMMS and the maintenance requests and complaints forms. Operates various pieces of equipment in snow and ice removal as necessary. Operates chain saw in the cutting of trees on right-of-way. Performs other related job duties as requested by supervisor. Conducts and documents pre-operation vehicle or equipment inspection. Is on call for after-hours emergencies.
