A high school diploma and four and one-half (4.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement. (NOTE): This position requires a Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement. However, qualified applicants without a Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with Commercial Driver's License are available.
Operates large motorgrader in maintenance reclamation operations including fine grading of the roadway to the proper cross slope, alignment, and grade. Serves as secondary operator for self-propelled stabilizer/recycler unit, soil stabilization unit and other equipment used in association with maintenance reclamation activities. Serves as assistant to foreman (Trades Specialist V) and assumes foreman's duties and responsibilities during absence including supervision of crew, daily reports, and HMMS data entry. Conducts safety inspections on all assigned vehicles and equipment. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance tasks (including cleaning filters, changing motorgrader blades, etc.) on all assigned vehicles and equipment. Performs other related duties as necessary including snow and ice removal. Performs various maintenance tasks (including ditch work, slope mowing, limb trimming, patching, etc.) in Greenwood County during the winter months or when reclamation activities have ceased due to breakdowns or weather. Trains others in the proper techniques for fine grading of the roadway using the motorgrader during reclamation activities. Inspects work of others for proper cross slopes, alignment, and grade of roadway when others are performing motorgrader operations.
