A high school diploma and four and one-half (4.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However,applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.
Supervises and inspects work including ditching, machining shoulders, patching, laying pipes and paving driveways and entrances. Maintains weekly and monthly reports, time sheets and cost records; recommends personnel actions including promotions, transfers and disciplinary measures; rates employee yearly according to the Employee Performance Management System. Supervises the preventative maintenance of equipment to ensure routine maintenance schedule is followed and to monitor equipment use and wear to prolong equipment life. Supervises and ensures a safe work zone for maintenance crew, as in flagging operations, wearing of safety equipment, vehicle safety, or when working with hazardous materials and waste. Supervises a maintenance crew cutting right-of-ways, tree cutting, and limb removal on highway right-of-ways. Supervises and coordinates crew in the removal of snow and ice from
roadways and storm damage. Devise and implement schedule for work to be performed by
maintenance crew. Supervises a maintenance crew patching base and surface failures.
Performs other job related duties, including on call for after hour emergencies. Conducts and documents pre-operation vehicle/equipment inspections.
