Requirements:

A high school diploma and four and one-half (4.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.

Job Description:

Supervises sign crew responsible for replacing, repairing and maintaining signs on all Statemaintained roads in Newberry County according to Business Plan, production goals, and standard practices. Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly reports; such as entering time and sign data in HMMS. Performs and maintains barcoding system for all signs installed and replaced. Ensures correctness of countywide data in HMMS. Orders signs and materials necessary to keep adequate stock for production goals in the 10-year sign replacement program, the night time deficiency program, and District Traffic Engineer requests. Performs
related duties as required. On stand-by rotation one week out of seven for emergencies and inclement weather. Supervises lane closures and detours on primary and secondary roads in Newberry County during emergency situations. Operates and maintains various equipment to install, remove, and maintain pavement markings, paint and thermoplastic. Markings include
words, stop bars, lines, delineators, and raised pavement markings. Conducts crew safety and performance meetings to keep updated with latest HMMS Performance Guideline, Job Hazard Analysis, and PPE. Follows up with Work Request contact goals.
