We are seeking several EXPERIENCED Veterinary Technician to join our team.
Work Schedule is varied between Monday – Sunday. Pawmetto Lifeline's Wellness, Care-A-Van, and Spay/Neuter Clinic Program offers a wide range of affordable, high-quality veterinary services for animals in the Midlands community.
Experience, Education, and/or Training
Required: 1+ year experience in a veterinary clinic
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Must be able to administer injections, perform venipuncture , take vital signs of animal, and properly restrain animals, including fractious animals, for examination and treatment
Assist the veterinarian during examination of animals, providing restraint as needed to
work safely and effectively.
Prepare and administer medications and vaccines as prescribed by the veterinarian.
Monitoring pets closely for changes.
Obtain radiographs of animals with knowledge of proper positioning and techniques.
Care for and monitor the condition of animals recovering from surgery.
Perform laboratory tests on blood, urine, and feces, such as urinalyses and blood counts, to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of animal health problems.
Collect, prepare, and label samples for laboratory testing, culture, or microscopic examination.
Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, and materials.
Provide the veterinarian with the correct equipment and instruments, as needed.
Fill prescriptions, measuring medications and labeling containers.
Prepare animals for surgery, performing such tasks as shaving surgical areas and placing IV catheters.
Perform routine laboratory procedures and analyses in hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, and serology
Prepare samples for outside laboratory analysis
Monitor patients under anesthesia
Induce anesthesia and intubate patient
Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, and materials.
Skills and Abilities
Effectively communicate in the English language both in writing and orally.
Accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide, and compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Maintain confidence around pets.
Be familiar with Microsoft Office Programs such as Word and Excel.
Prefer knowledge of Advantage Vet Software
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work in an outside environment with changes in climate and weather.
