Job Description:

The City of Abbeville is seeking a full-time Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator I/Trainee. This is an entry level position that will train in the operation of a water treatment and/or waste water treatment plant.

Job Duties/Requirements:

  • Assists in the operation of a water treatment and/or wastewater treatment plant as required by regulatory agencies through performing specialized work
  • Monitor the processes used in treatment operations
  • Perform laboratory analysis
  • Collect samples for testing
  • Keep result records and enter data into operational logs
  • Maintain both electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Handle hazardous chemicals
  • Available for shift work/weekends/and holidays
  • Be able to lift 80 pounds
  • Able to work well without supervision
  • Will be required to pass tests administered by the S.C. L.L.R. to obtain a Water Treatment License of at least a “C’ level and a Biological Wastewater Treatment License of at least a “B” in a timely manner after being hired Desirable Knowledge and Skills:
