Associate's degree and three (3) years journey level work experience in a related laboratory setting; or High School diploma and five (5) years journey-level technical work experience in a related lab setting. Associate?s Degree in welding, fabrication, metallurgy, machine tool, industrial maintenance, or closely related field and four (4) years teaching or journey-level work experience related to welding or completion of a federally registered apprenticeship program in field related to welding preferred. College-level teaching experience, pipe welding experience, and current credentials such as AWS, CSI/CWE are also preferred. Duties will require a 37.5 hour work week (possibly requiring day and evening duties).
The Welding Technical Assistant is responsible for the preparation of all welding laboratory classes, including set up of equipment, facility, organization of supplies, coordination of maintenance of equipment, maintaining a 5S culture in the welding environment, and supply ordering. Responsible for teaching laboratory sections of various welding courses each semester. Teaching load may vary each semester.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
?Plan, prepare and set up materials and equipment for welding laboratory classes and training.
?Instruct laboratory classes using guidelines established by the academic coordinator. Interface with Education and Training instructor(s).
?Maintain a 5S culture of lab organization and cleanliness with welding lab, equipment, and materials.
?Assist welding faculty with student examinations.
?Monitor welding laboratory sessions.
?Manage inventory by ordering supplies and equipment. Assists in maintaining, repairing and upgrading equipment on a regular basis to include coordinating repairs through contractual services.
?Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Participate in College-wide activities and Committees.
