ASL for Beginners

This six-week beginner American Sign Language (ASL) course provides an engaging and interactive introduction to ASL and Deaf culture. Students will learn 15–20 new signs each week while building the skills needed to communicate through everyday conversations and basic sentence structures.Throughout the course, students will practice facial expressions and emotions, eye contact and visual communication, question-and-answer skills, and respectful communication within Deaf culture. Classes will also include voice-off activities, partner practice, and opportunities to apply new signs through conversation. By the end of the six weeks, students will be able to introduce themselves, discuss family and veryday life, express emotions, ask and answer questions, and participate in a basic conversation using ASL. No prior ASL experience is required.
