Financial Aid Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for financial aid, students must meet the following criteria:
- Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible non-citizen.
- Be admitted to or enrolled in an eligible undergraduate program.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by the institution.
- Not owe repayment on any federal or state grant received at any institution, including Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG), and other Title IV grant programs.
- Not be in default on any federal student loan, including Federal Direct, PLUS, Perkins, or other Title IV loan programs.
- Demonstrate financial need when required by the specific aid program.
Determining Financial Need
Most financial aid programs are awarded based on demonstrated financial need. To determine eligibility, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
After submitting the FAFSA, students receive a FAFSA Submission Summary that includes their financial aid eligibility information. Financial need is determined by comparing a student's financial circumstances with the cost of attendance. Based on this evaluation, eligible students may receive a financial aid package that can include grants, scholarships, student employment opportunities, and loans.
