Basic Welding Certificate
A wide variety of career opportunities are available to students who prepare for actual work situations through practical training in welding.
Students in this program will learn the basic skills to weld in the four main welding positions using GMAW and SMAW welding processes.

- Explain and read occupationally specific prints for welders and fabricate from a blueprint.
- Test to certification standards on all types of welding.
- Demonstrate the manipulative skills to perform groove welds.
- Demonstrate the necessary manipulative skills needed to apply the Gas Tungsten Arc on various joint designs, on plate with both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
- Practice safety procedures for all types of welding.

Students may begin this program in the fall, spring and summer semesters depending on booth availability.
WLD courses are offered during days and evenings.
Students who work alternating shifts are encouraged to enroll in the certificate program and to rotate between day and evening classes to fit his/her work schedule.
Graduates can complete a Welding Diploma or an Associate Degree in Occupational Technology with completion of additional coursework.
Students should be prepared to purchase first semester welding supplies costing $226.60. Supplies for the second semester of welding will cost approximately $150.
