Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology or related field + 4 yrs experience in systems development and maintenance, technical support or the support of database management systems. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -Demonstrated experience with Oracle and SQL -Experience with Ellucian's Colleague and Blackboard Learning Management System -Project Management experience -Knowledge of relational database management systems, concepts, and design methodologies. -Knowledge of database structures, operating systems, data security, systems integrity, tuning, database backups, monitoring, and auditing activities.
With minimal supervision, supports the college's database management systems (Oracle and SQL Server); reviews and recommends the development of data standards, documentation, database strategy, and security and authorization procedures; serves as a key advisor to the Chief Information Officer in defining the goals and objectives for the database management systems; instrumental in ensuring the viability of the near-live and test environments for programming staff to perform their job duties; maintains system integrity and compliance with standards; provides direction on disaster recover, strategic plan, information technology road-map in the area of database management systems; supervises the work of lower level database administrators and other technical support staff.
