Wages/Salary: The state salary ranges from $37,945.00 - $70,204.00 Annually. The agency hiring minimum salary is $54,971.00 and the maximum is $70,204.00.
You will need a bachelor's degree in engineering and two (2) years of entry-level engineering work experience; or a bachelor's degree in engineering technology and four years of entry-level engineering work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resouces Regulations.
You will have to supervises maintenance activities for Aiken County. This will include field and administrative operations, personnel recommendations including disciplinary action, EPMS reviews, conducting interviews for new hires and career path progressions. Serves as Assistant Resident Maintenance Engineer when investigating complex maintenance complaints, CTS requests and those from the District Office. Evaluates the situation and makes recommendations on appropriate actions to correct problem areas; provide information on materials and time
necessary to complete corrective actions; work with supervisors in the implementing of corrective actions; inspects work in progress to ensure compliance with the Department's policies and procedures; assist in the supervision of the Contract Management of maintenance contract activities. Process includes, but not limited to guardrail repair and installation, mowing, chip seal, resurfacing, full depth patching, ADA ramp installation, sidewalk projects, preparing submittal packages, inspection of work, and payment of work. This work shall also include maintaining detailed documentation as required; assist in the supervision of the Encroachment Permit process at Aiken Maintenance. This process includes, but not limited to
interacting with citizens, local municipalities, utility company representatives and developers to gather information, educating the permit applicants on the process required for a permit, reviewing permits in a timely manner for accuracy and compliance with SCDOT Engineering policies and guidelines, proper documentation, entering information into HMMS, and preparing for RME review. Site visits will be required for both preliminary approval and construction compliance; assist in the preparation and monitoring of monthly reports of the unit's work accomplishments in accordance with the Department's business plan. Assist in the supervision
of the damage claim process at Aiken Maintenance. Assists in the supervision, coordination, implementation and compliance of all maintenance plans to include, but not limited to Hurricane Plan, Snow and Ice Plan, Debris Management Plan, IRVM Plan, Sign Maintenance Plan, Bridge Maintenance Plan and any other business plans as it applies to the business goals of the maintenance unit. Assists the RME and others as required during emergencies and inclement weather events. Perform other related duties as required by RME.
