Requirements:

- Must be outgoing, energetic, creative, demonstrate a high level of customer service, and have a strong sense of detail orientation. 

- Must be able to work a flexible, part-time schedule which will include days, occasional evenings, and weekends of approximately 24 hours per week. 

- Prefers an associate degree in an art related field, supplemented by nine to twelve months of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.   

- Prefers experience with MS Word, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator.

- A valid South Carolina driver’s license.

Job Duties:

In this position, under direct supervision, you will perform various functions primarily related to programs associated with the Newberry Arts Center.  Your work will involve providing exceptional customer service and support for all aspects of the arts programs, including communication and interactions with the public, coordinating events and classes, as well as the communication for the various programs for children and adults. 

  • Assists in arranging upcoming events and classes or workshops such as confirming dates, instructors, creating flyers/postcards, and other advertising to promote the Art Center and its services. 
  • Receiving and processing new inventory for the Artisan Shop which includes entering data into the Square website, printing and attaching labels to the products, as well as displaying the new products in the shop. 
  • Work to ensure the Clay Studio’s catalogue of purchases is updated, there is an accurate calendar of reservations, and be responsible for maintaining the binder for registration and data collection. 
  • Maintain the registration logs for classes/events and enter the information into excel spreadsheets for data collection.
  • Records the visitor count for the center and sends updates for PRT’s monthly City Council report.                 

 

Schedule:
Flexible - afternoons, evenings, and weekends typical. The average is 24-28 hours per week.
