Educational/Experience Required: Two years of college with A.A. degree in electronic technology or other technical program or minimum of four years commercial or military experience in the field of metrology. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Intermediate knowledge of metrology practices and theories in a particular discipline(s): electronics, mechanics, dimensional analysis, chemistry, thermometry, acoustics and vibration. Experience in the use of various hand tools and test equipment for a particular discipline, ability to use personal computers, Windows-based software and laboratory automation software, ability to apply basic algebraic and geometric techniques necessary for measurement analysis, possess strong troubleshooting and repair capabilities, knowledgeable of ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z-540-1 requirements, and skilled in communication with customers and peers, including the ability to mentor apprentices. Physical Demands: Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Office and laboratory working environment. Vehicle travel with some on-site work included.

Job Description:

Job Summary: This caliber technician is required to perform calibration and repair of medium to high level test and measurement instrumentation and to assist in general lab duties as assigned. Collateral duties may be assigned as permanent part of position description depending on individual's abilities. Source of Supervision: Master Technician/Laboratory Manager/Technical Services Director. Position Function Responsibilities: Adhere to all company policies and procedures, ensure customer satisfaction and timely turn-around on all equipment and service, perform calibration and repair of medium to high level test and measurement equipment. Requires little assistance and supervision on such work, coordinate and provide service for field calibrations and maintenance, seek and provide sales leads whenever possible, create calibration data sheets accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision based upon instrument specification and approved calibration procedures, develop calibration procedures, with supervision, to meet the needs of the customer while supporting traceability of the measurements, complete all documentation associated with position accurately and efficiently while maintaining a 5% or less of the combined Quality Documentation Inspection (QDI) and Process Verification Inspection (PVI) discrepancy rates, maintain technical proficiency and effectiveness through various means such as self-study, local college and internal training programs as well as proficiency testing, interface with customers for items requiring repair or limited calibration, perform other laboratory support functions as required in an efficient and orderly manner, and seek supervisory assistance in actual or potential problem areas.
