Knowledge for this position is usually acquired through a LPN or respiratory therapy program, or as a cardiovascular technician. Must have experience in a cardiovascular setting. Training specific to this specialized will be provided. Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) is desirable.
Performs cardiovascular diagnostic examinations and treatment under the direction of physicians; works appropriately with cardiology equipment and tools. Conducting various cardiac and vascular tests to monitor patients' heart and blood vessel conditions using diverse cardiology equipment. Obtaining and recording patient information and medical histories; interpreting EKG test results and generating factual written reports. Explaining test procedures, results and treatment plans to patients; providing care and counseling to ensuring their comfort and safety during cardiac tests and treatments. Maintaining a wide range of cardiology equipment and cardiac monitoring tools; reporting any malfunctions.
