Skill level required:  This is an entry level position.  Some knowledge of Microsoft products including server operating system, WORD, and EXCEL is desirable.  Basic understanding of electrical wiring and instrumentation.  Basic understanding of any graphics package.  Basic PLC understanding desirable.  Ability to work safely in an industrial environment and get along well with others.  Strong desire to learn and see a task through to completion.  Decent troubleshooting skills as it applies to programming type environment.

Position reports to Mill Engineer and Facility Manager as required for assignments.

This internship is for a position at the SWM Prosperity facility.  This is a “hands on” learning position suited for someone wishing to acquire a broad range of experience.   Scope of duties is to include:

 

  • Generating and documenting “as built” electrical control cabinet wiring using ACAD as directed.
  • Elementary PLC programming for data collection.
  • Configuration of facility “process historian” for data collection.
  • Development of implementation of data collection schemes, including, but not limited to, wiring, coding, network configuration.
  • Review and evaluation of existing equipment in preparation for upgrade recommendation.
  • Work with vendors as required to achieve the above listed goals.
  • Troubleshooting as skill develops of equipment.
  • Programming of “Human Machine Interfaces” (HMI) using Allen-Bradley FactoryTalk Suite.
  • General operations support as directed.
  • Work with operators and maintenance staff as required to accomplish tasks.
  • Participate in safety programs and audits as directed.

 Hours are from 08:00am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week nominal).  Some overtime or after hours work maybe required.
