Wages/Salary: STATE SALARY RANGE: $39,960.00 - $73,935.00 Annually

A bachelor's degree in engineering and one (1) year of entry-level engineering work experience; or bachelor's degree in engineering technology and three (3) years of entry-level engineering work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License is required.

Job Description:

Assists the Resident Construction Engineer with the supervision of Engineering and Geodetic personnel on road and bridge projects. Assists with the supervision of engineering and geodetic personnel in the inspection of; asphalt, concrete, embankment, storm drain, stone bases, and miscellaneous road and bridge items. Ensures that material sampling and testing requirements are met or exceeded. Ensures that road and bridge projects are constructed to the Department's
specifications. Maintains project records. Inputs, reviews, and approves daily work reports on assigned projects. Performs EEO and wage regulation interviews. Responsible for a portion of project correspondence with Department and Contractor's personnel. Generates monthly estimates. Assists the Resident Construction Engineer in the mentoring of lower level Engineers and Geodetic personnel: Assists in the mentoring and training of employees to perform tasks in
accordance with Department policies and procedures. Provides support to engineering and geodetic personnel as required, to solve problems encountered during construction. Serves as an Assistant to the Sr. Engineer during the construction of major highway or bridge projects. Meets with contractors, utility companies, and property owners to resolve issues during construction.
Generates plan revisions. Acts as project manager on road and bridge projects-inspection, material sampling and testing. Performs sediment and erosion control inspections and traffic control inspections on construction projects. Inspects the placement of concrete in roadway and bridge structures. Inspects the placement of embankment material, stone bases, and storm drain.
Inspects the placement of asphalt on the roadway. Performs the inspection of miscellaneous roadway and bridge items. Performs and supervises the performance of all required sampling and testing of materials listed in the above duties. Performs related duties as necessary. Performs office duties. Assists in the preparation of daily and monthly construction reports, estimates, and
final plans. Performs general office work as necessary. Performs other related duties as required.
