Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in engineering and six (6) months or related work experience; or a bachelor's degree in engineering technology and two and one-half (2.5) years or related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

Job Description:

Supervises engineering and geodetic personnel on road and bridge construction projects. supervises the inspection of asphalt, concrete, embankment, storm drain, stone base, as well as, miscellaneous roadway and bridge items. Acts as lead inspector on road and bridge projects. Performs sediment and erosion control inspections and traffic control inspections on construction projects, inspects the placement of concrete in roadway and bridge structures, the
placement of embankment material, stone bases, and storm drain, and the placement of asphalt on the roadway. Performs the inspection of miscellaneous roadway and bridge items. Performs and supervises the performance of all required sampling and testing of materials listed above. Acts as lead inspector on road and bridge projects. Supervises geodetic personnel while performing horizontal and vertical surveys. Operates surveying instruments in the absence of an instrument person. Computes horizontal and vertical curves, as well as grades along typical
sections. Checks and verifies all offsets and grades associated with all phases of road and bridge construction. Trains geodetic personnel in area of construction surveying. Maintains projects records. Enters or reviews all Daily Work Reports. Performs EEO and Wage Regulation Interviews. Responsible for a portion of project correspondence with Department and contractor personnel. Performs office duties. Preparation of daily and monthly construction
reports, estimates, and as-build plans. Performs general office work as necessary. Performs project closeout duties. Completes as-build plans, Final Material Certification and Final Contractor Quantity Concurrence to achieve project closure in a timely manner. Performs other related duties as required.
