Wages/Salary: STATE SALARY RANGE: $38,703.00 - $71,608.00 Annually

A bachelor's degree in engineering and two (2) years of entry-level engineering work experience; or bachelor's degree in engineering technology and four (4) years of entry-level engineering work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License is required.

Job Description:

Acts as assistant to the Resident Construction Engineer on road and bridge projects. Coordinates projects inspection requirements with project engineers and managers during all phases of construction. Mentors construction personnel to ensure that proper inspection and survey procedures are being followed. Supervises the project closure process, as well as the preparation of final construction plans. This includes the gathering of final measurements on construction items and the completion of as built plans. Also corresponds with the contractor to obtain concurrence on final quantities, DBE payment information and other required documents. Prepares technical reports. Prepares or oversees the preparation of daily work reports, monthly estimates and other necessary reports on construction projects. Corresponds with contractors and department personnel regarding construction issues. Conducts inspections. Ensures that contractors are in compliance with EEO, OSHA and erosion and traffic control guidelines on construction projects, as well as, project QC/QA. Meets with property owners and utility representatives to resolve problems. Addresses concerns that arise prior to and during construction. Uses a variety of computer programs. Develops computer models for construction projects, as well as, revised plan sheets and presentations. Generates spreadsheets for grade calculation, item tracking, and pay item quantity calculation. Preconstruction plan reviews and project development. Reviews plans and proposals for upcoming projects and makes recommendations for improvement. Gathers and inputs roadway and quantity data for future resurfacing and full depth reclamation projects. Performs related duties as required.
