Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in engineering and four and one-half (4.5) years of journey-level engineering work experience; or bachelor's degree in engineering technology ans six and one-half (6.5) years of journey-level engineering work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance ate Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License is required.

Job Description:

Plans, coordinates and schedules all necessary maintenance activities of all roadways, bridges, and rights-of-way in Laurens County within the state system. Supervises all maintenance crews in work assignments to ensure that all activities are performed in accordance to Department policies and standards. Performs inspections of roadways, bridges and right-of-way to ensure that they are maintained in a safe condition for the traveling public. Investigates maintenance requests and complaints received from the general public and public officials and ensures that corrective action is taken. Performs various office related duties such as preparing maintenance reports, correspondence, and handling personnel matters. Interviews new hires, reviewing encroachment permits and requisitions. Reviews and approves purchase orders, requisitions, weekly and monthly reports. Reviews and approves purchase orders, requisitions, weekly and monthly reports. Conducts various meetings such as safety, training, and personnel meetings. Coordinates and manages county equipment and crews during inclement weather operations. Performs other related duties as required.
