South Carolina Electric & Gas's System Integrity and Support Department is seeking candidates for an Engineering Specialist position to provide distribution and transmission pipeline corrosion related services. This position will be located in Florence, SC.
Responsibilities:
This System Integrity Department position provides cathodic protection services to gas distribution offices in the following area: natural gas pipeline integrity for cathodic protection (including supporting integrity related inspections on transmission pipelines, follow-up work, and supporting field and office staff to ensure pipeline safety and regulatory compliance). The ideal candidate will have the ability to learn the following knowledge and skills:
? Ability to perform technical work such as taking pipe to soil voltage readings, making minor rectifier repairs, etc.
? Working knowledge of locating defects in impressed current and galvanic cathodic protection systems
? Access and view cathodic protection systems in the GIS mapping system.
? Intermediate PC skills to include Microsoft Office and GIS maps.
? Overseeing contractors performing various corrosion prevention services.
This position may also be called upon to support SCANA?s engineering and operations team in other areas. Candidates should also be available for emergency responses as needed and available for Supervisory on-call rotation. Travel to various SCANA locations and some overnight stays are required.

Candidates will be evaluated based upon education, training and experience. The successful candidate will also be fully knowledgeable of all regulatory requirements, corporate design standards, and operations & maintenance procedures to ensure safety and compliance.

Education and Experience requirements for various levels:
Engineering Specialist I:
? High School diploma accredited by an organization that is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or one of the entities recognized by the U. S. Dept. of Education (or GED), and at least 4 years of related technical experience
OR
? Associates degree or other special certification/degree with at least 0-2 years of related technical experience (depending on the type of degree held). An Associate?s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Corrosion Technology would be preferred, but is not required.

Engineering Specialist II:
? High School diploma accredited by an organization that is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or one of the entities recognized by the U. S. Dept. of Education (or GED), and at least 8 years of related technical experience
OR
? Associates degree or other special certification/degree with at least 4-6 years of related technical experience (depending on the type of degree held). An Associate?s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Corrosion Technology would be preferred, but is not required.

Engineering Specialist III:
NACE Level II Technician Certification is required, along with one of the following:
? High School diploma accredited by an organization that is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or one of the entities recognized by the U. S. Dept. of Education (or GED), and at least 10 years of related technical experience
OR
? Associates degree or other special certification/degree with at least 6-8 years of related technical experience (depending on the type of degree held). An Associate?s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Corrosion Technology would be preferred, but is not required.
