Education and/or Experience
?Must be 18 years or older
?Minimum of an Associate?s degree or equivalent required

?Minimum of 1 years of prior safety experience required
?Prior experience working with environmental waste, water and air regulation preferred
?Prior experience leading plant safety committees or continuous improvement events preferred
The Environmental Health and Safety Technician is responsible for enhancing a strong safety culture by leading effective, efficient and compliant safety processes to assist the facility?s safety program to World Class. The Environmental Health and Safety Technician responsibilities include but are not limit to administrative duties, developing training programs, promoting prevention tools, and communicating safety best practices in the workplace. This role is essential to the successful start up of the Gastonia facility.
The Environmental Health and Safety Technician will lead from a foundation of safety and be guided by the Owens Corning?s Safety Stand:

Reports to: Gastonia EH&S Leader
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
?Live the Owens Corning Gastonia Safety Stand and meet all quarterly safety requirements.
?Participate in the safety, quality, TPM and good housekeeping programs as established within the plant.
?Perform job tasks to reduce or eliminate adverse impact to the environment, and adhere to environmental regulations and recycling procedures for waste disposal.
?Comply with all plant rules, safety regulations and job hazard analysis (JHA) requirements.
?Effectively lead Safety programs in an engaged environment.
?Maintain and update safety information and communicate safety metrics.
?Maintain all safety and environmental training documents as required by corporate and Federal/State standards.
?Coordinate necessary safety audits and inspections as required and ensure follow-up items are completed.
?Assist in recordable injury, first-aid and near-miss investigations and the development and implementation of action plans.
?Lead identification of critical processes and systems, and implement appropriate action plans.
?Lead the hazard identification and corrective action process.
?Partner with maintenance and operations to address and close hazards indentified.
?Partner with Critical 6 area leaders to deliver results.
?Provide communication flow of safety updates and implementations to plant employees.
?Participate in continuous improvement / Kaizen events.
?Seek ideas from team members and peers for opportunities to improve plant safety processes.
?Assist in the development of Job Hazard Analysis documents and Standard work procedures.
?Assist in the Management of Change process for new equipment or procedures.
?Support environmental initiatives in partnership with EH&S Leader.
?Monitor and track plant employee?s safety training requirements.
?Perform other related duties consistent with the nature of this position, as directed by the area leader.
