·High school or equivalent (i.e., GED) accredited by an organization that is recognized by
the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or one of the entities recognized by the U.S.
Department of Education.
·Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in maintenance and construction (with an emphasis
on HVAC).
·Valid Environmental Protection Agency Universal refrigerant card.
·Overnight travel and the ability to be on call are required.
·Valid driver’s license with a good driving history.
·Must pass the Department of Transportation Medical Exam prior to hire.
·Ability to climb ladders and lift at least 50 pounds.
·Knowledgeable in the inspection of new installations for potential maintenance issues and
capable of installing, removing, and relocating air conditioning systems as required.
·Knowledgeable in the methods of inspecting, repairing, and maintaining light industrial
and commercial air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration equipment for large buildings
including automated building management systems (such as Trane Tracer, Alerton and
CMI).
·Ability to work independently and follow instructions without direct supervision.
Preferred
·An Associate’s Degree in HVAC technology or related technical field is preferred and no experience is required. Experience in maintenance and construction (with an emphasis on HVAC) is preferred.
Maintenance Mechanic, Class B position with an emphasis in HVAC is available within
the Facilities, Maintenance and Construction Department.
·The position will be located in Charleston, SC.
·This position will be responsible for all aspects of installing, maintaining, and repairing
heating/air conditioning/refrigeration equipment, including sheet metal duct work, and
ductwork insulation.
·Will also be responsible for performing scheduled preventative maintenance and
inspecting, troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC/R equipment, including electrical
components, pumps, evaporators, chillers, boilers, ice machines and other related
equipment.
·Complete proper documentation describing work completed and recommended solutions.
