Requirements:

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent, plus successful completion of approved coursework/training in gas maintenance and repair work, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Requires possession of CDL license within six months of employment. Must become Operator Qualified according to the Department of Transportation and Office of Pipeline Safety Operator Qualification rule, within one year of hire.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Assists with a variety of pipe fitting duties, including setting meters and installing gas piping to gas-fired equipment.

Assists in installing and removing gas meters; repairs gas leaks on meter sets and customer piping.

Assists in connecting customer-owned, gas-fired appliances, and in converting appliances from propane to natural gas.

Assists in repairing customer-owned gas appliances and equipment.

Performs maintenance work on regulator stations, including painting and cleaning, checking for gas leaks and making repairs.

Reads and programs gas meters.

Annually services furnaces and changes air filters.

Inspects gas-fired equipment and related installations to ensure compliance with code requirements.

Stocks trucks with equipment and materials required for daily tasks.

Performs all work in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, codes, and standards of safety and quality.

Participates in the maintenance of positive customer relations.

Works on call as scheduled.

Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various records and reports including work orders, leak reports, warning tags, vehicle inspection records, logs, etc.

Operates a company truck, pipe threading machine, pressure washer, ATV, generator, leak detector, pressure gauge, mechanic's tools, meters, measuring devices and various other hand and power tools.

  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, other supervisors and employees, co-workers, customers, contractors, and the general public.
Job Description:

Under regular supervision, performs general customer service and maintenance and repair work on gas system equipment.  Performs related work as required. Reports to Gas Services Supervisor.
