Groundsman (Apprentice Lineman)

The Groundsman performs various manual labor type tasks at the work site to assist crew members such as loading and unloading supplies and materials, cutting brush, digging ditches and assisting in preparing materials for the Linemen to install. Assists line crews in the construction, maintenance, and operation of overhead and underground distribution lines, structures and/or equipment. Operates vehicles, performs groundwork, and keeps informed on and complies with all safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations. The successful applicant must:
?Be able to work successfully with co-workers and consumer-members in a courteous and professional manner and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors.
?Be able to obtain CDL within 6 months of hire.
?Be willing and able to respond to outages any hour of the day and night, weekends, and holidays.
?Have the physical strength and stamina to perform duties required, which include learning to climb poles, lift heavy objects (in excess of 50 lbs. and up to 100 lbs.) and work in dangerous conditions / precarious places to include heights, high voltage electrical currents and extreme heat/cold/humidity/wetness/dust.
?Be able to operate assigned equipment including buckets, forklift, backhoe, trencher, winches, chainsaw, drills, high compression tools, shovel, hammer, pliers, tamp, and basic hand tools.
?Be willing to work in potentially hazardous conditions caused by pets and wildlife in or near the work site with possible exposure to poison oak, poison ivy, and insect stings.
?Work under degree of stress related to accuracy and deadlines.
?Be able to learn and apply information from technical manuals in the completion of duties.
