Requirements:

A 10th grade education and two and one-half (2.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.

Job Description:

Operates medium duty equipment such as boom and bat wing mowers, belt loader, and rollers. Performs duties using manual labor, in such maintenance tasks as clearing rights-of-way, cleaning drainage ditches, repairing shoulders, patching potholes, making base repairs, repairing bridges, paving driveways, and laying sideline/ cross line pipe. Operates tandem tenwheel dump truck, 5 to 10 yard standard dump truck, and flatbed truck for hauling materials such as asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement pipe, construction materials, and debris. Assists in the replacement of missing and damaged signs, erect new signs, and repair old signs. Flags traffic during road repairs to control flow of traffic to protect workers, general public and equipment. Operates standard dump truck with snow plow attachment and sand spreader to remove snow and ice from highways and bridges. Conducts and documents pre-operation vehicle/equipment inspection. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment as outlined in equipment specifications. Performs other related job duties as requested or assigned by supervisor.
