Required Skills/Abilities:
- Good knowledge and understanding of HVAC systems including chilled and hot water systems
- Must be adept at using a variety of hand and electrical tools and meters
- Must be able to read blue prints
- Must be able to utilize the online building controls software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to understand written directions in manuals and on manufacturer websites
- Ability to maintain basic records and warranties
- Basic knowledge related to hazardous material handling
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software as required to complete and maintain records
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred or like experience.
- Certification/license appropriate to the HVAC trade
- Experience with similar types of facilities, equipment, and events preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of working in hot or cold temperatures
- Prolonged periods of working in attics, and on the roof of buildings no more than four stories tall
- Must be able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds at times; push/pull up to pounds at times 50 pounds
- Must be able to frequently stand, stoop, kneel, climb and balance; crawl at times
- Must be able to traverse, access and navigate all areas of the facilities
- Must be able to access all parts of the company equipment.
The HVAC Technician will provide ongoing preventive maintenance, investigations, and repairs of HVAC systems at all facilities used by the Center under the direction of the Center’s Maintenance Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Inspect and perform maintenance on HVAC systems at all locations which includes travel to offsite clinics. Predominantly chilled and hot water systems, HVAC systems at GGC include the following:
- 110 air handler units
- 6 mini split units
- 210 filters
- 6 exhaust hood fans
- 4 chillers
- Rebuild, replace, or repair fans, motors, thermostats, fuses, filters, bearings, valves, controls, gaskets, belts and other equipment as necessary
- Inspect and perform maintenance on laboratory hood and restroom exhaust fans
- Utilize the building controls software system for maintenance and investigations
- Assist in project and new instrument mechanical assessments
- Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration systems as needed
- Assist with purchasing of supplies, parts and materials as it relates to HVAC systems
- Handling of refrigerant and coolant
- Assist the maintenance team with other duties as needed (i.e. event setup/take down, etc.)
- Performs other related duties as assigned
