  • Provide support for users and resolve helpdesk tickets 
  • Install new hardware and software and maintain existing components 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with user devices and peripheral equipment
  • Review manufacturers’ specifications on connections and methods to locate problems
  • Perform software installations and updates 
  • Document new processes and essential procedures
  • Performs other related duties as assigned 
  • Work independently or in a team environment 
  • Travel to satellite offices within South Carolina 

Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Good understanding of helpdesk ticketing and user support 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills Good interpersonal skills 
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (routing, switching, VLANs, wireless) 
    • Network+ certification preferred 
  • Familiar with security concepts and exploits (phishing, antivirus, malware, encryption) 
    • Security+ certification preferred 
  • Familiar with printers and print services 
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office and O365 
  • Familiar with computer hardware components and peripherals (hard drives, memory, power supplies, CPUs, video cards, PCI slots, system boards)  
  • Basic knowledge of Desktop Windows operating systems  
  • Basic understanding of safety as it relates to computer repair 

Education and Experience:  

  • Associate’s degree in a computer-related field is required, or certifications [Network+, Security+] and one year of experience in the IT field.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT-related field preferred. 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Must be comfortable with climbing a ladder 
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.  
  • Must be comfortable with standing for extended periods 
Job Description:

The IT Support Specialist I will provide technical assistance related to computer hardware and software, utilize technology tools and products, and participate in the operation of the IT helpdesk supporting GGC staff members.
