Job Description:

This is a temporary position not to exceed 18 months.  

Hartwell Lake is part of the Savannah River Basin.  Along with Lake Russell and J. Strom Thurmond Lake Hartwell is part of a system that serves as a major flood control project, while generating clean renewable energy.  This position serves as a laborer as part of our small multi-disciplinary team that Operates and Maintains Hartwell Dam & Power Plant and Clemson Pumping Station.  Our staff are multi-crafted employees that consist of Hydropower Mechanics, Hydropower Electricians, and Duty Operators.  Your work will involve working with the craft employees assisting with fetching tools and equipment, cleaning, painting, and miscellaneous other tasks in maintaining the generators, pumps, and other systems in the Power Plant and Pumping Station.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Assist maintenance craft employees with various industrial work involving manual labor. Outdoor activities can occur in all kinds of weather. The incumbent is subject to the hazards associated with working in and around industrial areas and machinery.  Safe work practices are an integral part of this position. You will be required to learn, comply with and promote prescribed safety rules and regulations.

Schedule:
Up to 40 hours per week (flexible with class schedule). Weekends and holidays and overtime may be required.
