Wages/Salary: $15-$16/hour
Bachelor of Science degree in a related field and one year?s experience or four years combination experience and training in a related field. Candidates need to be highly motivated, detail oriented, and have the ability to work independently. Experience and knowledge of pumps, fractionators, UV sterilizers, heat exchangers, ozone systems and automated control systems. Candidates need to be able to demonstrate their knowledge of water chemistry. Must be able to lift fifty pounds and work in an industrial environment. The candidate must have a SCUBA certification from a national accredited institution. Laboratory experience preferred.
Riverbanks Zoo & Garden is expanding its aquatic animal exhibits, as well as, its newly developed Life Support Systems Team. We are looking for a mechanically inclined problem solver who likes working with their hands. This individual will maintain excellent water quality throughout the zoo by performing LSS maintenance and improvements, conducting dive operations and running water quality testing. This is a great opportunity to expand any operator?s skill set. Training and certifications in all areas of this job will be provided.
Duties: Under the general supervision is responsible for daily operation and maintenance of all aquatic LSS and public water features. The LSS Technician will conduct water quality testing daily as well as participate in dive operations as needed. Work closely with animal and maintenance staff to complete tasks related to LSS maintenance. Ensure that all public water features maintain DHEC water standards when open to the public. This individual must be able to work weekends, holidays, overtime and reports to work on declared inclement weather days. This position reports to Life Support Systems Manager.
