Wages/Salary: $20 per hour to start. Apprentices are full time employees with Full Benefits. After individual financial aid resources are applied, General Electric covers the remaining cost of tuition, and books during the 1st semester. In the second semester tuition reimbursement will apply as for Full Time Employees.

Requirements:

Must be High School Graduate, successfully pass the college entrance exam, successfully pass a mechanical aptitude assessment, favorably complete employment evaluations through applications, testing and interviews.  Must have and maintain 3.0 GPA

Prefer strong mechanical/electrical and mathematical aptitude, ability and eagerness to learn and to work within a team, and great communication skills.

Job Description:

The GE Greenville Gas Turbine Maintenance Technician Apprentice Program combines both academic studies and on-the-job training to develop the fundamentals required to become a skilled Maintenance Technician with GE Power.  

A maintenance technician performs simple to very complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic trouble shooting and repairs on variety of precision production machinery. They work on machine systems such as:

*Robotics & HMI Controls            *Programmable Logic Controllers              *Alternating & Direct Current Drives

*Servo Systems                                *Numerical Control Technologies             *Hydraulics and Pneumatics

What does the Apprentice Program prepare you for?

The Maintenance Apprentice Technician will learn to trouble-shoot, correctively define root cause, and implement corrective actions safely on a variety of machine systems, including: program logic controllers, numerical control technologies, robotics, discreet control systems, alternating and direct current drives, servo systems, various types pump systems, safety circuits, complex process systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

What is the duration of the program?

Apprentices will graduate with academic training, a State & National Certification as a “Maintenance All-Around Craftsmen”.  The program duration is five years with 10,000 hours of on-the-Job training.

Am I guaranteed to be offered a full-time job at the end of the program?

Yes, eligibility for available full-time positions is contingent upon the completion of the programs 10,000 hours of on-the-job training assignments, completion of Associate in Science Degree in EET & MECH, employee remains in good academic standing, passes performance evaluations, and passing program qualification assessment.

Schedule:
40 hours per week; which 8 hour shift depends on school schedule
