Requirements:

Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by six to nine months of related experience in building maintenance or construction; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license.

Must be physically able to operate a variety if maintenance tools and equipment. Must be physically able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move balancing and is excess of sedentary work. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to one hundred pounds.

Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or compositional characteristics of data, people or things.

Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes the receiving of information and instructions from supervisor.

Requires the ability to read work orders, technical instruction, diagrams, blueprints, etc. Requires the ability to prepare routine records using the proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar. Has the ability to speak before others with poise, voice control and confidence.

Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited.

Job Description:

Under direct supervision, employee is engaged in extensive training to being to learn an understand the requirements that are necessary for the effective and efficient operation of backhoes, tenches, front-end loaders, boom trucks, dump truck, jet-vac, boring machines, tapping machines, meters, fire hydrants, or similar equipment, material, and supplies during the construction, operation, and/or repair of the water distribution and sewer collection systems. Reports to Crew Leader.

Uses a variety of tools such as cut of saw, plumbing tools, pipe wrenches, water tapping tool, mechanic tools, ratchets, wrenches, hand tools, etc; and a variety of supplies and materials such as pipe, couplers, repair bands, tapping saddles, fittings, general office supplies, etc.

Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the Crew Leader, customers, and the general public.
